Stack racks with B-4 base give you greater strength and flexibility because it not only allows you to load the rack from all 4 sides but also allows you to fork, pick up and transport the stack rack from all 4 sides. No more having to reposition your forklift. Just pick and go.

These portable storage racks are called a B-4 base because it offers 4 way entry. It’s also called a  B-4 base because that is the number of sides you can load product and the number of sides you can safely fork the rack with forks of your forklift. You only want to fork a stack rack with B-2 base from 2 opposite sides but our stack rack with B-4 base pattern gives you the flexibility to safely load, fork and transport the stack rack from ALL 4 SIDES.

The difference in the B-4 and modified B-4 bases (as you can note in the photo and diagram) is that the modified B-4 has a single support Bar joining double support bars as opposed to double support bars throughout – but it gives you the same 4 way entry, durability and strength at a lesser price. The modified B-4 is the standard base pattern on all of our stock stack racks (except the 48″ x 48″ size).

How best to explain, If you look at the bottom of a stack rack while it is being transported on the forks of a forklift (see attached pic) observe that the forks make contact with multiple support bars in base (in fact the support bars should be running perpendicular to the forks so that it has proper support). The B-4 base option for these portable storage racks is worth the extra money.
