The top benefit of adding fork runners to your stack racks is that they distribute the weight evenly across the entire runner instead of having all of the weight come down on the pin feet. Why is that a benefit? Because it prevents point loading reducing damage to the floors of your trailers and prevents damage to decking when stored in pallet racks.
Stack racks with optional Steel Runners are for customers storing heavy loads. Steel runners give stack racks additional strength. An added benefit is they help reduce forklift damage to the base.
Custom stack racks can come with optional 2-way or 4-way runners. When choosing 2 way or 4 way runner it’s important to consider the amount of weight you are storing. You should also consider whether you are forking the stack rack from 2 sides or all 4 sides. if you fork it from 4 sides, you should consider 4-way steel runners.
Steel runners run flush to the floor and are designed for heavy loads. They help distribute the weight and keep all weight coming down on the points of the pin feet, which can damage concrete floors or decking in pallet racks.
If you are storing stack racks on any kind of rack decking then runners are a must. They distribute the weight of the load evenly along the length of the runner. Runners should run opposite of support bars to get added support.
Runners are also excellent fork guides which help secure the load and give the forklift drive a visual indication of where the forks need to be placed for load to be evenly distributed.
