If your company has large stacks of steel coils all over the shop floor we need to talk. It’s been a common practice for steel mills, steel service centers, OEM’s, press rooms and metal shops to have steel coils strewn across the floor waiting to be retrieved and moved to distribution or manufacturing to be processed. This is an inefficient use of labor and space.

Warehouse Rack & Shelf offers heavy duty structural steel racks that will help you get those coils off the floor, maximize storage space and better yet, help you better organize your coil storage. In fact, we have heavy duty coil racks that can help you store and efficiently retrieve slit coils, plate material, bundled pipe and tubing. You can rely on our experts to design a structural steel storage rack system to meet your needs.

What makes the structural steel coil storage system unique? The heavy duty coil racks fall between our lowest priced and lightest capacity roll formed teardrop coil rack system and our heaviest duty and most expensive structural I-beam system. Where as our roll formed teardrop coil rack system is designed for smaller lighter coils and our structural I-beam system is designed for the heaviest 20,000 LBS coils, our heavy duty structural steel coil racks are perfect for storing coils that weigh up to 10,000 LBS.

While all of our coil racks store coils on cradles in an “eye to the aisle configuration, our heavy duty coil racks can handle heavy coils and offers tremendous damage resistance, durability and affordability all in one rack system. It is a selective steel coil storage system in that all coils are available to be picked from the aisle. While a light duty roll formed coil rack storing lighter weight coils or the heaviest duty I-beam coil rack can both store two coils wide on a shelf – the heavy duty coil racks are typically designed to store one coil wide per shelf and up to 3-4 coils high.

Clear up valuable floor space by storing master coils (AKA mother coils) in heavy duty coil racks. Repurpose that floor space in your plant for manufacturing or additional equipment like presses and stamping equipment. Instead of having to expand your warehouse make better use of the space that you have. Coil racks don’t cost money, they help you increase profitability.

Advantages of this Structural Steel Coil Storage System Include:

Increase storage density in your warehouse by getting coils off the floor and into racks. Free up valuable floor space by utilizing the vertical space in your warehouse. Avoid having to build or lease additional warehouse space by better using the space that  you already have.

Increase handling efficiency by making every coil easily accessible from the aisle. No more waisted time looking for coils. Coils are in clearly marked locations allowing employees to quickly store and retrieve.

Improve organization by giving each coil its own easily identifiable storage location in a coil cradle.

Improve efficiency and increase profits by reducing machine down-time and increasing machine up-time because machines are not having to wait for you to locate and retrieve coils.

Improve safety in your warehouse by getting coils off the floor and into properly designed and engineered storage racks. Reducing risk of coils shifting and falling on employees.

Reduce damage to expensive coils by getting them off the floor and into properly designed shelves and cradles making them less likely to get hit or nicked by forklifts and other material handling equipment.

TIP FROM THE PRO’S: AS THE PICTURES INDICATE, WE ARE ABLE TO ADD A SHELF LEVEL ABOVE THE COIL RACK FOR GENERAL STORAGE. THIS IS NOT STANDARD AND NOT INCLUDED UNLESS YOU REQUEST IT. IF YOU WANT US TO ADD A SHELF LEVEL ABOVE 3RD COIL WE WILL NEED TO INCREASE UPRIGHT HEIGHT OVER 3RD COIL TO ACCOMODATE IT.
