There are two reasons why you would add 4 way steel runners to wire baskets: 1. They add the ultimate in rigidity, increase longevity and ultimately help prevent damage to the most vulnerable part of the basket – the feet. 2. They are recommended when you are storing your baskets in rack. They evenly distribute the weight over the length of the runner and prevent dangerous point loads caused by feet coming down on a small point when baskets are stored on pallet rack decking.
Wire containers with runners can be retrofit with 2 way or 4 way steel runners. Steel runners span from foot to foot. 4 way steel runners offer damage resistance for stacking feet keeping feet from twisting upon contact with forks of a lift truck. 4 way runners also allow you to store containers on pallet racks or decking because the runners distributes the weight across the length of the runner and prevents point loading. Wire containers with runners may also allow you to flow pallets in pallet flow or pushback rack systems.
Wire containers with runners will help greatly reduce damage caused by forklifts. Steel Runners keep feet from twisting when impacted by forks. Steel runners increase the life of your wire mesh containers. The weakest link to a collapsible stackable wire container is it’s feet. If you can protect the feet from damage you can almost double the life span of your wire basket. If you include heavy duty feet and steel runners you will have the ultimate in damage resistance.
Wire containers with runners help distribute load weight and prevent dangerous point loading or pallet rack decking. If you are going to store your wire containers in pallet rack, on wire deck, you will need to order your wire baskets to include runners. Wire pallet containers with runners are still stackable and collapsible.
