This perforated metal decking takes the best of classic traditional steel decking and combines it with the new and improved perforated or punched design that gives it 15% open designation. If you are wanting a deck that meets passes muster with local municipalities and their inspectors, Fire Marshall’s and in some cases your insurance company this is not the deck for you. If you need 50% open decking you should choose another decking listed below under “You may also like…”.
This punched hole steel sheet offers strength, a smooth surface and a 15% open (or 85% closed, depending on how you want to look at it). Although it doesn’t meet fire codes, the surface does allows for some light, air and most importantly water to flow through while offering you strength. Self cleaning perforated decks get less dirt and dust build up than regular solid decks.
The open style decking allows some water from overhead sprinkler systems to get some coverage in the case of a fire. Quite frankly these perforated steel decks help increase fire safety while providing safe deck support to handle heavy loads.
