Used Pallet Racks

So do you want the straight talk on used pallet racks? You came to the right place! 

In some cases there may not be a tremendous savings in the cost of new racks vs. used pallet racks. That is because there are a lot of costs associated with used pallet rack shelving. There is disassembly cost. Freight costs. Handling Costs. Resale Costs. And unless you can find it close to your location some of the savings may get eaten up by additional freight cost.

But don’t lose hope. You can find savings in used pallet rack shelving! You just need to know where to look and you may need to be a little flexible. What you will find is that the greatest savings in used rack is in the BEAMS. The cost of new vs. used upright is very close But used beams can offer a real savings – Up to $10.00 savings per beam.

I can assure you that when quantities are large the rack factories get very aggressive in their pricing so on larger jobs it may be difficult to find lots of savings in used pallet rack shelving. Smaller quantities is where you will see the more significant savings.

One thing that you will find out quickly when searching for used pallet rack is that you will find lots of odd brands, shapes, sizes and capacities. If you are flexible on size, brands, colors you can get yourself a great deal. If you can use a 92″, 98, 102″ or 134″ Speedrack beam in color yellow your in luck. If you could use a 19′ x 38″ Keystone upright or 8′ x 36″ Ridg-U-Rak upright you will have plenty to choose from. But if you need a good supply of 96″ x 5″ teardrop beams color orange and 20′ x 42″ teardrop uprights you may be hard pressed to find them.

Let’s talk about condition. There are varying levels of tolerance for what is acceptable condition. Some buyers are more picky than others. With used rack you can expect to find scratched, blemishes, light spots of surface rust and in some cases stickers. I also have used rack that is in like new condition. We like to call out the condition of the used pallet rack that we sell and in many cases can provide pictures. We do have one promise and that is we don’t sell junk. We are very particular about what we buy and sell.

A word I was taught early in my career, a real buzz word for rack salesman is Refurbished. Rack dealers love to tell you how they can refurbish the used rack to make it look like new again. We can certainly offer the same service. We can sand, reconfigure, repaint the used pallet rack but that comes at a cost close to the cost of new rack. l
