This is working very well and we need more wire mesh containers. The wire containers that we use measure 40” X 48” X 48” (outside dimensions). That size is ideal for storing our bagged products 4 bags wide x 2 bags deep x 8 bags high for a total of 64 bags per large wire container. The wire containers have allowed us to maximize our space. We’re able to store three times more product than we could before. Wire baskets allow for the densest storage we can get and that’s important when you are dealing with limited storage space. Previously we were storing our palletized bagged product on the floor. We stored 1 pallet high to avoid product damage associated with bulk stacking. The wire baskets allowed us to store 4 loads high at 4,000 LBS capacity per load. The bottom basket has the capacity to support the 3 pallets on top. These wire baskets can be collapsed down and stored away when not in use. We find that shipping them in the collapsed and stacked position greatly reduces return freight cost when shipping product on trailers to our other facilities.
