Plastic collapsible bulk containers are highly flammable, and their solid sides prevent water dispersion from overhead sprinklers. Many municipalities are banning them from warehouse storage because in the event of a fire the plastic containers will burn out of control. Same goes with solid steel decking. Solid decking prevents water from overhead sprinklers from soaking products stored on the shelf. 50% open pallet rack decking has now become the universally accepted standard. Eventually plastic containers and solid steel decking will become a distant memory – a thing of the past.
By using collapsible wire containers, rigid wire containers, corrugated steel containers (ANY CONTAINERS MADE OF STEEL OR WIRE) you are safe. A combination of PRODECK50 50% open punched steel pallet rack decking, pallet spacers, transverse and flue space protectors you are sure to meet Fire Codes and, in many cases, can reduce your insurance rates.
Steel and wire bulk containers are non-flammable, and combination of proper 6″ flue space between back-to-back rows, 3″ transverse flue space on side of rack post (6″ total) and 50% open rack decking you are allowing your overhead sprinklers to function as designed.

Many users have set shelf dimensions throughout their system based on shelf width & depth and clear heights. Many might have truckload cubbing requirements based on utilization also.
Otherwise, if customer requires wire mesh, our 40x48x36 collapsible wire basket w/ 4-way runners (AS SHOWN IN FEATURE PICTURE) with 4,000 k capacity would be a heavier duty and a more cost-effective alternative/ solution as plastic bulk boxes are only rated 2-2.5 k capacity. Our Wire Basket offers the same over all utilization as the Bulk Box.
