SPECIAL NOTES: FOB: Los Angeles and Chicago. Punched steel decking has a flush fit design that fits into standard 1-5/8″ step beams. You’ll need (4) – 24″ wide pieces on a 96″ beam level and (6) – 24″ wide pieces to fit on a 144″ beam level. In order to deck a 108″ beam level you will need a combination of (2) – 24″ wide and (2) 30″ wide pieces on a standard 108″ beam level. **All stock material is currently being built for a 1.75” top of beam. For a 1.625” top of beam, we recommend a ¼” deeper deck (16-18 week lead-time). We are able to store approximately 140 PCS one a pallet.

Record box storage racks have traditionally had solid steel or wood decking, maybe wire mesh decking. Those types of decking were never a great solution. Wire decking left indentations on the bottom of the box and was not good for sliding boxes on and off the shelf.
Solid wood or steel decking created dark spots on the shelves below where overhead lights would not illuminate. Dust and dirt would build up on the solid decking. And what’s worse is that if there was ever a fire the solid decking wood decking would go up in flames and the solid steel decking would not allow overhead sprinklers to properly extinguish the fire.
So along came the Fire Marshall and Insurance companies prohibiting the use of solid decking when storing flammable items like record storage boxes. A record archive storage box is literally kindling for a fire. It is a corrugated box filled with paper. For that reason and that reason alone it is critical to store your record archive boxes on a pallet rack decking that is 50″ open for fire safety.
