NOTES: We are able to add fork stirrups quickly to our stock stack racks in OHIO but the stirrups won’t be painted. If you want them painted we need to supply them from Missouri or Georgia with a 6-8 week lead time. We can also provide stack racks with 4 pairs of fork stirrups (Add -4PFS to end of PN). Stack Rack with optional fork stirrups (AKA Fork Guides) come in pairs. Like stirrups from the cowboy and western movies of our childhood, they are meant to secure the ride. Fork Stirrups are steel U-Shaped straps that are welded to the bottom of the warehouse stacking rack. They secure the stack rack to the forks while stack rack is being lifted or while in transit.
Warehouse stacking racks with fork stirrups are typically provided in a pair. They are located on opposite sides of the stack racks. The design allows you to safely pick up the stack rack from two opposite sides. If you want to pick up the stack rack with confidence from all 4 sides, you should consider purchasing a stack rack with 4 pairs of steel runners located on all 4 sides.
Stack racks with fork guides are more typically provided for longer stack racks. They’re difficult to balance, and it’s hard to find their center when picking up. You will find the fork stirrups on opposite long sides of long stack racks. Now if stack racks are loaded into a trailer for transit, then you may also find fork stirrups on opposite short sides of the rack since that is the side you will fork to load it in a trailer.
Don’t get me wrong, fork stirrups are not necessary. Many, if not, most customers purchase stack racks without fork guides. Let’s say they are a personal preference. But I must say they add an level of security by securing the stack rack on the forks of the forklift. Fork stirrups add a level of confidence that surely adds to the safety and security of the job.
SPECIAL NOTES: Optional Fork Stir-ups. Price per side or per pair. By default fork stirrups are added to the widest sides or fork entry side. By adding them to the widest sides it helps insure proper balance and weight distribution and allows easier fork access. Standard spacing of fork stir-ups is 24″ O.C. (O.C. = On-Center, measured from center of one fork stir up to center of the other) We can put the fork stir-ups at any spacing you would like. Please note fork stir up spacing on final sign off drawing.)
