Bollards are commonly used in manufacturing facilities, warehouses and distribution centers for the safety and security of pallet rack, machinery, in plant offices, electrical boxes and other utilities, loading docks and overhead drive in doors.
Loading docks require extra protection. Trucks and trailers back up to the loading dock to have materials loaded and unloaded. But if the trailer is not aligned properly it can cause severe damage to your exterior of your building. Bollards help the truckdriver establish spatial recognition and awareness making it easier for the driver to safely align the truck.
For a standard 8′ wide dock door the bollards are installed 6″-12″ from each side of the door (or 9′-10′ apart) and 1-1/2′ – 2-1/2′ away from the building. For a standard 12′ overhead drive in door they should be installed 6″-12″ from each side of the door (or 12′-13′ apart). Spacing of bollards is really at the discretion of warehouse manager.
Our steel pipe safety bollards are primarily used for safety and traffic control in manufacturing facilities, warehouses and distribution centers. Constructed of a 42″ x 4-1/2″ diameter thick steel pipe mounted to a 10″ x 10″ steel base plate with 4 holes for mounting to the concrete floor. They are finished with an attractive, durable and most importantly vivid safety yellow powder coat finish.
Bright safety yellow pipe bollards will attract visual recognition of both employees and forklift operators. When safety is job #1, and it always is, use safety bollards to protect valuable and vulnerable assets like in plant offices, equipment, machinery, work areas, crosswalks, entryways, dock doors and rows of pallet rack.
Pipe bollards can be used individually or in unison to create safety barriers that are virtually impenetrable by man or machine. When properly anchored to the floor these things can take a heck of an impact. We find it is best to use a combination of steel pipe safety bollards and guard rail throughout your warehouse to protect valuable infrastructure in your building.
We recommend that you space bollards 3′-5′ apart and 1-1/2′ from curbs, forklift thoroughfares, pallet rack aisleways, building entrances, roll up doors or warehouse loading docks to control traffic flow and ultimately prevent cars, trucks and forklifts from hitting people or things. impact resistant safety bollards can be used anywhere frequent pedestrian traffic can be jeopardized by moving equipment.
