Is this the future of warehousing? Driverless forklifts are being introduced in some of the nation’s largest warehouses. HK systems seems to be at the forefront of manufacturing these automated guided vehicles (AGV’s) and stacker systems.

This doesn’t bode well for forklift drivers in the future. Drivers of forklifts and over the road trucks seem to be in the cross-hairs of companies that want to save money on material handling. In their defense, this could reduce costs, make companies more profitable and help to reduce the cost of products to the end user.

I guess we should be pushing our kids into the engineering fields so they can help design these new systems for an ever changing warehouse.
