We offer all 27 sizes of standard corrugated steel bulk storage containers in raw, unpainted, unfinished steel. If you ask what finish is added to the raw steel we will tell you nothing at all – Just naked steel. Sure we could paint the steel but many customers request that they be unpainted. unpainted containers are also less expensive.

Why would someone want an unfinished unpainted steel container you may ask? Well there are two major reasons: 1. The customer wants to paint them themselves or 2. There are companies that use unfinished steel containers in an environment where the paint will chip causing a contamination issue where paint chips can contaminate stored products.

Many metal foundries that store hot metal parts do not want their container painted because the hot metal parts will melt the paint. The storage of hot metal parts renders the paint useless. You will find that unpainted containers doesn’t present an issue. The surface rust that may build up over time is worn away by constant use of parts rubbing the surface.

You would be surprised to know that approximately 50% of the containers we sell are unpainted, raw steel. Please keep in mind that when you get an unpainted container just the moisture in the air will cause surface rust. It doesn’t have to be stored outside for it to rust. But surface rust will not downgrade the capacity of the container.
